Should I Get Eyelash Extensions for a Wedding?

Should I Get Eyelash Extensions for a Wedding?

Eyelash extensions are ideal for all brides or attendees who wish to add extra length, thickness, and volume to their lashes on their wedding day. You should get your lashes done at least 2-3 weeks before the wedding to ensure the desired look is achieved and rule out an allergic reaction for that special day.

All brides deserve to have a kind of eyelash enhancement for their nuptials. Whether the lash extensions are semi-permanent or more temporary, the guarantee is that lash extensions will make your eyes look gorgeous in photos and will give your makeup a finished look.

Below are different reasons why brides should get eyelash extensions.

1- Lashes Are Easy to Care For

Generally, lash extensions are great for women whose mornings are always a mad rush to be early for appointments or work. With the hustling and bustling that comes with a wedding, you deserve a few minutes to sit back and relax.

A lot of time goes into making your hair and making sure your makeup is perfect. However, getting synthetic eyelashes before your special day can assure you that your eyes are already in excellent shape.

In addition, lash extensions can also help you be honeymoon-ready, thanks to the fact that they can last up to 4 weeks or more.

This means you will wake up every day feeling beautiful and bright without any need for makeup.

2- Being More Photogenic is Guaranteed (No Runny Mascara!)

Long, luxurious, and curled lash extensions always make the eye look dazzling and bigger; this is why people consider lash extensions for weddings in the first instance.

Even if you prefer a more natural makeup look for your wedding day, with lash extensions your eyes are still going to look beautiful in photos and appear less tired given the stress you have gone through the days preceding your big day.

Also, given the fact that most brides get teary on their wedding day, this should alone make you invest in eyelash extensions to avoid black streaks ruining your makeup. With synthetic extensions, mascara is not necessary so feel free to let your emotions flow.

3- Can Be Applied to Suit Your Style

The beauty of eyelashes is that there is no one size fits all, therefore; you can inform your lash technician about your preferences.

The technician can adjust the color, curl and length of the eyelash extensions to either enhance or tone your natural eyelashes.

You can also opt for a half set of lashes that is absolutely natural-looking or a full set that will give you a more dazzling look.

3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE EYELASH EXTENSIONS

You’re busy. I’m busy. We’re all busy! If there’s one thing we could use a little more of – it’s time. Between family, work, school, chores and a long list of other obligations, most of us are always at least a little bit behind on what we need to get done. If you’re a woman this sometimes means you are sacrificing your “me time” in order to get everything done. When you’ve got a full day of craziness ahead of you your hair and makeup are usually the first things to go out the window. It simply feels wasteful to spend extra time on your appearance when there are so many other urgent things which need to be done! For this reason, a lot of women turn their noses up at the thought of eyelash extensions. They’ll take up frequent and long appointments in your schedule. They’re expensive. They’re high maintenance. They’ll mean fancy makeup every single day, but ain’t nobody got time for that!

Less Makeup – Women who wear lash extensions usually report that they need less makeup. Some women can get away without wearing any when they have lash extensions! The lash extensions are longer, darker and fuller, so they lift your eye area and really make your eyes “pop.” You can wear eye-shadow and liners if you want to! But you probably won’t need it. That’s great for your skin, your wallet AND your morning alarm clock time.

Low Maintenance – Sure you’ll need to get fills every 2-3 weeks, and those appointments can seem a little long. But other than driving to and from the appointment you won’t need to do anything else! Many women will tell you that they look forward to their appointments as an hour or two where they can lay down and just relax – and leave looking prettier! Lash extensions don’t require daily care or special products. Unlike mascara which has to be applied, touched up and then washed off every day – you don’t need to do a single thing for your lash extensions each day. This saves you important time in the morning when you’re rushing off to school, work or errands, and it shortens your nighttime routine – meaning you get to bed sooner! For some reason people think lash extensions will be a lot of work, but actually the opposite is true. Lash extensions can make your routine faster and easier every single day.

Big Impact – Once you get eyelash extensions it’s sometimes hard to believe you ever lived without them! The look can be as natural or dramatic as you would like, but the commitment is small. It’s not a tattoo or plastic surgery, but it will seriously enhance your look. With or without makeup you will look noticeably prettier, more feminine and more put together. And imagine that – with less time and effort than your current beauty routine!

TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY AND EYELASH EXTENSIONS

Whether it’s humidity or heat, get the 4-1-1 on how each can affect your lash extensions, plus some tips on how to keep them looking flawless no matter what climate you’re in!

CARING FOR LASH EXTENSIONS IN HOT TEMPERATURES

When it comes to the environment, hot weather and summer seasons, our lashes are like the hairs on our head: They go where we go and are pretty good at sustaining themselves, even when it’s hot.

  1. Clean your lashes using a lash extension-friendly cleanser
  2. Give them a gentle comb-through each day.
  3. Keep up with your regular refill appointments, so your stylist can monitor your lashes and keep that lash line fluffed and full.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS + HIGH HEAT SOURCES DON’T MIX!

While high temperatures from weather conditions can be manageable if you care for your lashes properly, the same is not the case when it comes to heat sources.

For example, direct, high heat from things like a blow dryer, ovens, stoves, grills or anything with an open flame can cause synthetic lash extensions to singe or melt. This could cause damage to your natural lashes or make them appear clumpy when they cool back down (NOT pretty!).

HUMIDITY CAN AFFECT LASH EXTENSIONS

There are some things in life that just don’t mix. In this case, we’re talking humidity and lash adhesive. That’s because extreme humidity can cause the adhesive holding your extensions perfectly in place to weaken. When this happens, the adhesive can become brittle and/or cause a clumpy lash line (again, not a pretty!).

SIDE NOTE FOR SALTWATER SWIMMERS AND THEIR LASHES

When jet-setting to a tropical paradise or beach getaway abounding with saltwater, make sure to take your lash extension-safe cleanser with you. Why? After any exposure to saltwater, you should cleanse your lashes immediately. This is because the saltwater is reactive to the lash adhesive and can break down the bond quicker than when exposed to regular water.

In short, humid conditions + saltwater don’t mix with lash extensions; make sure to follow the tips above to come out on top.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS FROM HUMIDITY

If you live in a location with high humidity, or you’re taking that long-awaited tropical vacation where humidity is part of the deal, there’s one thing you need to purchase and use daily. A lash sealant! Your lashes (and stylist) will thank you for using a lash sealant because it will:

  • Extend the life of the adhesive, keeping your extensions locked in place longer.
  • Add an extra layer of protection for your lash extensions and lash line.

And if you’re looking for even more lash tips to protect your investment and keep your lashes in terrific shape, call us to see our expert training tribe dish and educate on all things lashes!

Curious About Eyelash Extensions? Here’s What You Should Know

I’ve worn eyelash extensions continuously for about two years now. They make me feel like a Disney princess whose pure and gentle spirit has enticed delicate, mascara-free butterflies to live on my face.

Amid my otherwise low-maintenance makeup routine, lash extensions are like a cosmetic cheat code: Whether I’ve just woken up, exercised for an hour, gone for a swim or lived through a harrowing 24-hour stomach flu, I’m unfailingly delighted by the way my eyes pop, and by how quickly I can get ready.

When it comes to, say, applying eyeliner, I have the fine motor skills of a ventriloquist’s dummy, but there is no daily effort required on my part for lash extensions work their fluttery magic.

For the uninitiated but curious, I asked the owners of four eyelash-extension salons (and one ophthalmologist) about what to expect when you’re extending.

Eyelash Extension

Unlike temporary false lashes, eyelash extensions are neither a D.I.Y. affair nor a fleeting commitment.

They are professionally applied, one on each natural lash, with a semi-permanent glue meant to hold them in place for several weeks. Extensions bewitch your lashes with the length and volume that nature didn’t see fit to give you (and beyond what multiple coats of mascara and a lash curler could), but at a length your face deserves.

To begin, you’ll lie down on your back and get comfortable. Your bottom lashes will be shielded with under-eye pads, stickers or tape. Prepare for your eyes to remain closed for the entire application, as your technician delicately affixes each extension with tweezers.

It may take a few minutes to adjust to the knowledge that a pointed metal object is moving so close to your eyeball, but the procedure is gentle enough that, if you’re like me, you might very well find yourself dozing off. I’m usually awakened by the breeze of a small fan the technician points at my lashes to help dry the adhesive as the service wraps up.

After your appointment, don’t let your extensions get wet for the next 24 hours, so that the glue can dry completely. Steer clear of humid environments like saunas, too. I once made the mistake of running a 10-K on a steamy summer morning right after an evening lash application, and I remember wiping my sweaty face with my hand and finding three or four fugitive extensions on my palm.

To preserve your extensions, keep them clean and gently detangle them with a pristine mascara wand or spoolie brush every day. You can wear eye makeup, but accept that oils and oil-based makeup remover are your lashes’ worst enemy, because they break down the adhesive. When it comes to mascara specifically, the experts suggest skipping it.

Top 11 Facts About Eyelashes

Are you a fan of lashes? Or maybe lash extensions? Women love to emphasize them in different ways and through different makeup looks, as well as eyelash treatments. Keep on reading and figure out some new and fun facts about lashes that you probably didn’t know of.

1. They Grow In Stages

Our lashes will grow in three stages, also known as anagen, catagen, as well as telogen. Anagen is the active growth stage that happens during 2-3 weeks. Catagen is a transitional stage where the follicle closes off. Telogen is a resting stage where your lashes stop growing and they’ve reached their full potential.

2. They Will Fall Out On A Daily

Each eyelash will grow in its own ideal cycle, and you will never be lash-less as time goes on. Most people will lose five lashes in a day. Once it falls out it will take 6-8 weeks for your new lash to grow in, so you have to be patient! All you can do is using a lash serum to speed up this process while taking good care of them

3. All Mammals Have Eyelashes

Did you know that mammals are the only ones who have lashes? Plenty of animals can have thick and full lashes, such as giraffes, horses, as well as cows. You can enjoy their beauty and feel lucky if they are naturally wispy.

4. They Are Used For Protection

Their main purpose is to protect your eyes from external factors. Your lashes will protect you from dust, rain, as well as dirt. The more you blink and the longer your lashes are, the less the chance of you getting something into your eye. They will also help with your overall sight and vision.

5. They Are Made Of Two Things

Did you know that they are made with water (3% only) and 97% of keratin? Keratin is a natural protein that is common for hair, nails, as well as skin. The better the diet (which is protein-based) the prettier and stronger your lashes will appear and look.

6.  They’ve Been Loved In Ancient Egypt As Well

Back in 4000 B.C. people in ancient Egypt would use kohl to darken their eyelashes. The first-ever non-toxic mascara was invented in the 19th century. A mixture of coal and Vaseline will do you wonders as well, and women loved to combine these ingredients ages back.

7. You Have Tiny Mites

Only around 0.2 millimeters long, these are found over our lashes and eyebrows.

8. They Will Change As You Get Older

Your hair will change as you age. Your natural lashes will look different when you’re in your 30s or 60s. You can speed their growth and boost their thickness with high-quality oils and serums.

9. They Are Thick On The Top

You will see that they are long and thick around the top. There are also 200-300 lashes on one eyelid. You will also see that your middle portion is a lot stronger and more durable than the rest.

10. They Can Get Damaged

You can easily damage them if you abuse them too much. Do not use lash curlers or mascara too often. Let your lashes rest, breathe, as well as nourish on their own. Embrace the growth cycle. Take care of them by keeping them clean every day

Did you know you can pull them out of the root? Never break them in half and let them regenerate on their own. Always use light pressure and press up and down to get the curl.

11. They Like Food

Get the needed food and nutrients to speed up their growth. You should eat salmon, fruits, vegetables, as well as some vitamins that will help with the formation of your collagen.

5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GET LASH EXTENSIONS

Long, thick and full eyelashes are desired by many women and often seen on the pages of many beauty magazines. Unfortunately, we are not all genetically blessed with perfect lashes, and although it might seem hard to believe, many models and celebrities also belong in this category. You might wonder “how come these beautiful people seemingly have perfect lashes?”

5 Reasons Why You Should Get Lash Extensions

  1. You will look and feel better, especially now that you can stop envying the models and celebrities in magazines. Eyelash extensions instantly dramatically enhance your eyes. They will look bigger, brighter and more youthful, and the lashes will also bring out the color of your eyes. The compliments will start pouring in, and your confidence will increase. When you look good, you feel good!
  2. You can still do everything you did before. Lavish Lash extensions look natural and are weightless; you will most likely forget that you are wearing them. After the first 48 hours, you can go about your business as normal. You can even swim and shower with the lashes.
  3. You will have time to spare. No more rushing in the morning to put on your makeup and get out the door. You can sleep in a little longer, because Lavish Lash extensions naturally frame and emphasize your eyes, so curling your lashes and applying eye makeup is really not necessary anymore. Also, you don’t have to bother taking off eye makeup once the day is done.
  4. You can save money. Since eyelash extensions look good on their own, you don’t have to buy tubes of mascara to bring out your lashes. The days of layering mascara, and potentially risking smudges and raccoon eyes, are over. You can save the money and get yourself another treat; Lucy’s lashes extensions maybe?
  5. You can easily maintain the look. Initially getting lash extensions can take up to 2 hours, depending on the skill of your lash technician. After this, all you have to do is maintain the look by getting touch-ups, or so-called fills, every 2 to 3 weeks. In addition to being less expensive, fills are less time-consuming; in about 30 minutes, you will leave the salon knowing that your lashes look as fabulous as you feel.

Why Are Long Eyelashes Attractive?

Have you ever thought about why we always desire to have long eyelashes? Why do some famous paintings of women depict that eyelashes are something that enhances the beauty of your face?

Generally,we use eyeliners and mascaras to highlight them. And above all, we are very fond of getting Eyelash Extensions to make those eyelashes look prettier than ever.

So why do we pay so much attention to this tiny little part of our face? Well, here at Wisp lashes, we have helped thousands of women with eyelash extensions and here’s the reason why all of us love those long dark lashes!

They make your eyes look bigger:

  • Whatever shape or colour your eyes maybe, long black eyelashes make them open up, look bigger and brighter.
  • This is a scientifically proven fact that baby-like features such as big eyes induce feelings of love and attraction in other adults.
  • One of the scientific journals based on Social Psychology has also noted this back in the 1980s that baby-like facial features have a strong impact on the other person when commanding honesty, kindness, or affection.

They make you look young:

  • We all know that our eyelashes tend to grow thinner and shorter as we age. So, logically, the longer your eyelashes, the younger you seem to look.
  • But that’s not all. It is found that dark eyelashes highlight the white part of the eyes known as the sclera.
  • The brighter it looks, the younger it makes you look. And if you have ever noticed, you might know that the blink of women is slower than those of men.
  • The soft and fluttering blink of a woman is considered seductive, and if your lashes are long, that just makes it even sexier!

They are extremely catchy:

  • Long lashes definitely look catchier than having sparse eyelashes. Scientifically, eyelashes are required to protect the eyes from dirt in the air. But hey! Who doesn’t want to seek a little attention with the blink of eyes?
  • You can convey a lot of things with those eyes! You can convey to someone that you’d like them to start a conversation. Similarly, you can glare in a way that says, “Stay away from me!” And here’s a little analogy for you to understand: long dark eyelashes are to your eyes, what lipstick is to your lips!
  • The way a lipstick creates a contrast with the surrounding skin; your eyelashes do pretty much the same.

They make you feel confident:

  • Long lashes will boost your confidence. Do you notice how your self-esteem boosts up when you apply your mascara during your makeup?
  • Do you notice the difference in the appearance after getting eyelash extensions or putting on mascara? It makes a big difference, isn’t it?
  • Some women tend to have naturally long lashes while some get Eyelash Extensions or use mascara for the same.
  • However, that doesn’t make any difference. The way it makes you feel confident is all that matters.

These were just some of the reasons why long eyelashes make you look attractive and catch the attention of people. You may be surprised to know that your eyelashes also say a lot about a woman’s fertility, this may seem odd but not totally wrong. The excess shedding of your eyelashes indicates an autoimmune disorder and such disorders have an extremely detrimental effect on your fertility.

The Invention Of Eyelash Extensions

Who Invented Eyelash Extensions?

The history of eyelash extensions is riddled with many unconfirmed stories and myths.

Some say it was Egyptians who first came up with the idea of artificial lashes made from thin strips of gold and silver.

Others claim that false lashes were first used in 1916 by director D.W Griffith to make actress Seena Owen look more alluring in the movie Intolerance.

The most popular story, however, is that of Anna Taylor.

A beauty salon owner from New York, Anna Taylor is credited with being the first person to apply false eyelashes commercially while celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, and Elizabeth Taylor were some of her earliest clients.

Why Were Eyelash Extensions Invented?

The primary reason for the invention of eyelash extensions was to enhance the beauty of eyes and make them stand out.

However, over the years, the function of eyelash extensions has changed and they are now used for various purposes like making the eyes look bigger, fuller, and more defined.

They are also used to add length and thickness to the lashes, as well as to create different looks for special occasions.

Where Did Eyelash Extensions Originate From?

Lash extensions are believed to have first been used in ancient Egypt. It is said that they were used to enhance the beauty of eyes and make them stand out.

Both Egyptian men and women were seeking this novel way to improve their appearance and status.

Were Eyelash Extensions Invented?

Eyelash extensions were invented and patented in 1911 by Anna Taylor. She was a beauty salon owner from New York. Ms. Taylor is credited with being the first person to apply false eyelashes commercially.

The patent description says they were intended “to be used in combination with the natural eyelashes to add length, thickness, and/or fullness thereto.”

What Were False Eyelashes Originally Called?

False eyelashes were originally called “artificial eyelashes”.

4 MISCONCEPTION ABOUT EYELASH EXTENSIONS

You probably have at least one friend who has dramatically told her horror story about her experience with eyelash extensions. If you’ve been holding off on getting extensions because of what you’ve heard, read up. Chances are, you’ve fallen victim to one of many myths about extensions.

MYTH #1 – EYELASH EXTENSIONS DAMAGE YOUR EYELASHES.

This is the most popular misconception about eyelash extensions, so let’s just get this one out of the way first.

FACT – NO, THEY DO NOT DAMAGE YOUR NATURAL LASHES.

When applied properly, your eyelash extensions will not only look great, but have no effect on your natural lashes. It’s all about using an experienced lash stylist who understands the right way to apply the extensions. If the lashes being applied are too long or too heavy, they may fall out early and take some of your natural lashes with them.

Another common issue? Too much glue. Since extensions are glued to your natural lash, using too much glue on eyelashes can cause your natural lashes to fall out, along with the extensions.

MYTH #2 – THE EYELASH EXTENSION PROCEDURE IS PAINFUL AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

So many beauty processes are so uncomfortable. This one has to be as well, right?

FACT – ACTUALLY, A LOT OF PEOPLE TAKE A NAP.

Talk about multitasking. The process is long—about 1.5 to 2 hours on average—but it doesn’t hurt. Some people take naps or listen to music or podcasts while the lash stylist does their thing.

MYTH #3 – YOU CAN’T WASH YOUR FACE AROUND YOUR EYELASHES.

With the delicacy of the glued lashes, surely water and face cleansers are a no-no while I have extensions.

FACT – WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO WASH YOUR FACE AND KEEP EXTENSIONS CLEAN.

We encourage you to keep your extensions clean. In fact, that will keep your lashes looking fresh and healthy. That being said, you’ll want to be a little more mindful of your products. Find a facial cleanser that’s extension-friendly to ensure best results. And, make sure you’re not using any oil-based cleansers or makeup removers. Lastly, don’t rub too hard!

MYTH #4 – YOU CAN JUST PICK THEM OFF WHEN YOU’RE READY.

Just like fake lashes, I can just peel them off when I’m tired of them, right?

FACT – NOT UNLESS YOU WANT TO DAMAGE YOUR HAIR FOLLICLES.

Lash extensions and fake lashes you can buy at the drugstore are two very different products with very different ways to remove them. Pulling them out yourself could result in damaged hair follicles—and once it’s damaged, hair will no longer grow. So unless you’re willing to permanently lose your natural lashes, visit your stylist to have them SAFELY removed with the appropriate products.

Now that we’ve put your mind at ease, there’s only one thing left to do—book your lash extension appointment at LUCY’S LASHES for great-looking lashes you’ll love!

Must-know facts about eyelash extensions:

1. Eyelash extensions are not “one size fits all”. Everyone’s lashes are different and eyelash extensions should be customized to each individual for the correct length and thickness to suit their look and ensure the health of their natural lashes. Not everyone can or should get super long or super thick eyelash extensions!

2. A full set of eyelash extensions is not all one length. The shape of your lash line tapers – it’s longer in the center and shorter on the outsides and your extensions should be too. Following the design of the natural lashes creates natural-looking extensions!

3. Natural lashes grow to a finite length (different for each person), fall out and are replaced by new growth, just like the hairs on your head. When eyelash extensions are applied and maintained correctly, they will grow out with your natural lash and still be attached to the lash when it sheds.

4. Natural lashes are constantly growing in and falling out at different times so your eyelash extensions will too! There is no set amount of time that eyelash extensions will last because they will shed with the natural lash they are attached to when it grows out and that time varies. Due to growth cycles and different stages, the best estimate is that you will shed 1-5 natural lashes per day – including those with extensions and those without. Frequent re-lashes will replace those that have shed to maintain a full look.

5. You SHOULD be seeing your natural lashes and extensions fall out together. This is normal. If your extensions fall off before the natural lash, the adhesive bond wasn’t strong enough or maintenance instructions were not followed correctly.
